Z-Steel is a water-based 100% acrylic DTM corrosion-resistant paint for metal surfaces, structures and siding. It is applied directly to prepared metal without a separate primer, indoors and outdoors.

Prepared clean or rusted steel, sheet metal walls, metal structures and siding. DTM means direct-to-metal application.
Preparation and application
- Remove loose rust and flakes. Clean and degrease according to the technical data sheet, then allow to dry.
- Mix thoroughly. The sheet describes brush, roller or spray application; the document states that two coats are generally sufficient.
- Calculate using Zinox’s confirmed coverage: 2,500 sq. ft. per 18.9 L pail for each coat.

Your questions about Z-Steel
Does primer-free mean no preparation?
No. Direct-to-metal application requires a prepared, clean and dry surface. Loose rust and flakes must be removed.
Which coverage should I use?
Zinox’s coverage figure for quantity calculations is 2,500 sq. ft. per pail, per coat. For 2,500 sq. ft. with two coats, the estimate is two pails.
Is a transparent version offered?
No. Z-Steel is offered in the colours shown, including Sand Beige and Charcoal. A transparent option is not offered for this paint.
