ZINOX ADVICE · PRACTICAL GUIDE

Which Zinox product should you choose for your surface?

One surface, one need, one system. This guide helps you distinguish all ten Zinox products and ask the right questions before buying.

Choose by surface and purpose

Start with three questions

What surface are you protecting: metal, shingles, wood, concrete, pavers, a pool or an industrial floor? What result do you need: paint, an elastomeric film, transparent protection, a silver finish or an epoxy system? Finally, how will it be used: indoors, outdoors, with traffic, water exposure or industrial conditions?

The right product serves a specific purpose

Zinox manufactures and sells products. Application is performed by customers or independent professionals. A coating does not replace repairs to a failing structure. Use the surface selector to identify products, then read the product page for the planned system.

THE ZINOX RANGE

Ten products. Different roles.

Z-Seal

Z-Seal

Elastomeric protection for metal roofing

Z-Seal is a water-based acrylic coating that forms a flexible film and provides corrosion protection, notably for metal roofs. Wood and floors also appear in the surface selector: the preparation system and precise application must suit the project.

Choose it when the project calls for elastomeric protection. It does not replace repairs to a failing structure, fastener or joint. Coverage depends on application method: 550 sq. ft. by roller or 400 sq. ft. by airless, per pail, per coat.

Z-Steel

Z-Steel

A direct-to-metal corrosion-resistant paint

Z-Steel is a 100% acrylic, water-based corrosion-resistant paint. DTM means direct-to-metal application without a separate primer for that use. It is intended for metal structures, walls and cladding, indoors and outdoors. The surface selector also includes wood; that listing does not automatically transfer the DTM instructions to wood.

Its role is protective metal paint. Z-Steel and Z-Seal are not two names for the same product. Choose according to the surface, desired finish and planned coating system.

Z-Shield

Z-Shield

Nanotechnology for shingles, brick and stone

Z-Shield is transparent nanotechnology protection for asphalt shingles, brick and stone. Its water-repellent action helps limit moisture penetration. It is not an opaque paint and should not be described as a structural repair.

It carries a renewable 10-year warranty. Coverage and renewal are governed by the written Zinox terms; “renewable” alone does not establish a price, free renewal or specific conditions.

Z-Stone

Z-Stone

Nanotechnology for concrete and interlocking pavers

Z-Stone is transparent nanotechnology protection for concrete, interlocking pavers and documented exterior mineral surfaces. As a simple distinction, Z-Stone leads the choice for concrete and pavers, while Z-Shield notably covers shingles, brick and stone.

The current product page recommends two coats. The confirmed 2,000 sq. ft. coverage per pail is for one coat, so a two-coat system must include both coats in the estimate.

Z-Wood

Z-Wood

Nanotechnology for wood

Z-Wood is transparent nanotechnology protection for exterior wood and porous wood surfaces. It is for customers seeking wood protection rather than opaque paint.

The current product page recommends two coats. Each 18.9 L pail covers approximately 2,000 sq. ft. for one coat. Condition, porosity and application can affect consumption; the calculator remains an estimate.

Z-Therm

Z-Therm

A ceramic-based coating

Z-Therm is a water-based, ceramic-based coating presented as helping limit heat transfer and improve comfort. Confirmed coverage is 1,250 sq. ft. per 18.9 L pail, per coat.

This description does not establish an insulation rating, energy-saving percentage or guaranteed temperature reduction. Those figures are not established in the available reference. The coat system and film thickness must be specified for the project.

Z-Dry

Z-Dry

A satin silver finish

Z-Dry is a 100% acrylic emulsion, water-based coating. It provides a satin silver metallic, sandblasted-metal appearance for ceilings and indoor or outdoor surfaces prepared for the planned system, notably in commercial and industrial projects.

Application is primarily by airless spray; rolling is not recommended. No claim of eliminating condensation or a percentage of energy savings is established. Confirmed coverage is 2,000 sq. ft. per pail, per coat.

Z-Pool

Z-Pool

A coating for concrete swimming pools

Z-Pool is a chlorinated-copolymer coating for indoor and outdoor concrete swimming pools. Its documentation covers new concrete and concrete previously painted with a coating of similar composition. It does not establish use for every pool material, including vinyl or fibreglass.

Coverage is a range: approximately 1,248–1,533 sq. ft. per 18.9 L pail, per coat, at the specified thickness. Refilling time is part of the system: touch-dry paint does not mean a pool is ready to fill.

Z-Floor

Z-Floor

A two-component epoxy for industrial use

Z-Floor is a high-performance, water-based epoxy coating for concrete floors, walls and prepared metal surfaces. It provides high gloss, high hardness and good chemical resistance. Its documented use is industrial.

One complete kit contains 9.45 L of part A and 9.45 L of part B: 18.9 L total, not two 18.9 L pails. The mixing ratio is 1:1 by volume. At 5–7 mils dry film, practical estimated coverage is 389–545 sq. ft. per kit, per coat.

Z-Cleaner

Z-Cleaner

The preparation cleaner

Z-Cleaner is a concentrated cleaner and degreaser that helps remove contaminants before coating. It prepares the surface rather than forming the final protective layer. It is sold in a 3.78 L container, unlike the 18.9 L pails used for most coatings.

Confirmed coverage of 1,500 sq. ft. is for one container of concentrate mixed with four gallons of water. Calculate cleaner for the area to clean; do not automatically multiply it by the number of paint coats.

Your questions before choosing

Which products use nanotechnology?

The family consists of Z-Shield, Z-Stone and Z-Wood. Choose Z-Shield for asphalt shingles, brick and stone; Z-Stone for concrete and interlocking pavers; Z-Wood for wood. These protections should not be presented as opaque paints. Other products in the range are not automatically nanotechnology products.

Z-Seal or Z-Steel for metal?

Z-Seal is an elastomeric coating notably intended for metal roofs. Z-Steel is DTM corrosion-resistant paint for metal structures, walls and cladding. Tell the adviser the intended use and finish instead of choosing only by price or by a surface filter.

Can one product replace all the others?

No. Cleaner, DTM paint, elastomeric coating, nano protection and epoxy serve different roles. Z-Cleaner prepares the surface rather than forming the final protection. Z-Floor requires two components; Z-Dry primarily uses airless application. Some uses overlap, but methods and coverage are not interchangeable.

How do I choose a colour and find the price?

Open the product page to see the colours and formats actually offered. Z-Dry is satin silver; Z-Floor is grey. Transparent products and paints do not offer the same finishes. Read current prices and availability in the store when selecting; they are not fixed in this article. Tell the adviser the product, colour and quantity you want.
